One of the advantages of traveling in a rental van is the freedom that you will enjoy during your vacations. Thanks to this you have the opportunity to know firsthand charming villages aboard your Puzzle Campers. Any time is good to enjoy a getaway, sometimes the destination can be the least. It is best to get carried away and enjoy the route and its landscapes at all times. Even though summer is over, autumn is still a good time to get away and enjoy the van. Escape from the city, from the traffic jams and enjoy the outdoors and nature provides energy to tackle the routine much better. So, why not take advantage of a bridge or take a few days of holidays to enjoy charming villages?

Before starting the route

As always before starting the route it is convenient to stop a few minutes to organize the trip, and more when you do not have much time. It is about minimizing the risk of our trip being spoiled.

– Check the state of the van. It is not enough that before you get on the road make a quick check of the condition of the tires, oil levels, windshield … although if you are fortunate to travel in rent camper, you do not have to worry, we check that our furgos are in perfect conditions before delivery.

– Check the weather report. Perhaps your intention is to be in contact with nature and to practice sport outdoors. Check that weather will allow you, but, you can always have a plan B and take advantage of the getaway to do other types of activities.

– Put the right clothes in the suitcase. Once you check the weather, dress clothes according to the weather. It is possible that in the autumn, during the day the temperature is pleasant but at night it can cool. It’s all right to wear some sweater or sweater. Albarracín

This small Aragonese town is considered by many the most beautiful town in Spain. It is located between ravines and valleys in the province of Teruel, 40 kilometers from the capital. All of its buildings are in ocher tones and are surrounded by a ramparts wall as much as the mountains can. From cobbled streets and impossible slopes, it has a very special medieval charm that you can enjoy from the Alcazar de Albarracín. A medieval castle located within the historical center of the town.

In addition if you are lovers of nature, you can take advantage of the trip to enjoy the Pinares de Rodeno. A protected landscape that looks a nice reddish color, like Albarracín. If you are going to visit this locality in a rental van in the fall, do not forget to bring warm clothes, at night refresh!


Cudillero

Very close to our base, on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea lies Cudillero, also known as Villa Pixueta in reference to the dialect spoken in the area. Cudillero is one of the most photographed fishing villages in the north of Spain. The fishing tradition of this locality is reflected in all its corners. Monuments, fishermen’s houses, shops, harbor … everything revolves around the sea. So it is the perfect destination to enjoy an afternoon in rental van and enjoy a good meal next to the port.

A good option to take the trip by van to Cudillero is to take the opportunity to visit Cabo Vidío or the well known Playa del Silencio. Without a doubt, the location of Cudillero, as well as its colorful houses and, of course, its surroundings make this village a good destination for traveling in a van at any time of the year.

Hondarribia

If the final destination of your rental camper travel is France, Hondarribia is a must stop. Fuenterrabía is found bordering with France, bathed by the Cantabrian sea and the bay of Txingudi. Its historical center, of medieval origin, is formed by narrow streets of cobblestones in which the castle of Carlos V stands out. So, the best thing is that you park the van on the outskirts and cross the center on foot.

The Marina district, full of bars and taverns, is the perfect place to enjoy rich pintxos accompanied by a good txakolí. Of course, remember that at the wheel zero tolerance to alcohol. Undoubtedly, Hondarribia is a good destination to travel in camper for rent. If you stop short, you can always spend the night here before continuing the route.

Arcos de la Frontera

We do not tire of saying that this locality of Cadiz is a good destination whether you are traveling in a rental van or not. Arcos de la Frontera is very close to our southern base, just 65 kilometers and is where the White Villages Route begins. A route that runs through the mountains of Cadiz crossing small villages of a pure white color.

Arcos de la Frontera is located on a hill and its streets are steep and narrow. The best thing is to leave the camper in the parking lot that you will find in the outskirts and enjoy the locality walking its alleys on foot. Its narrow streets, its white houses and the architectural jewels that it houses make of this town a very special place to visit in van. A few kilometers from the village is the Lake Arcos, which offers the possibility of practicing nautical sports. A very complete trip to do it in rental van.

 Covarrubias

In Castilla and León abound the medieval towns but one that stands out among all them is Covarrubias, in the province of Burgos to 40 kilometers of the capital. This small town is located in a strategic place, where several well-known routes pass: the Lana Route, the Camino del Cid and the Camino de Santiago. If you are one of those who are encouraged to travel the Camino de Santiago in rental van, you can not go without visiting Covarrubias.

Throughout this small town of medieval origin there are many buildings declared of Cultural Interest so it is a good idea to let them take you through its streets. You will be amazed by the characteristic traditional houses built in adobe with a typical wooden framework. Among all the houses stands the House of Doña Sancha, a house of XV very well preserved where you have to make a photo.

Cadaqués

Cadaqués, in the province of Girona, has the title of being the most eastern town of the Peninsula. After crossing with your rental van a curved road that runs along the Cape of Creus, you reach one of the most charming fishing villages in the whole Mediterranean. Its white houses, its raised church and the fishing boats form a stamp worth seeing. It is not surprising that Salvador Dalí spent much of his life in this town. A good way to get to know the village is to get lost in its steep streets adorned with colorful flowers.

Cadaqués is the perfect destination if you fancy enjoying the beach. Its famous crystalline water coves are perfect for snorkeling. But if you are more dry, you can travel several routes through the Natural Park of Cape Creus. Then you can enjoy the typical and delicious suquet of peix to replenish forces.

La Alberca

Without moving from Castilla y León, we go to Salamanca, La Alberca. Surrounded by oak trees and fruit trees is one of the best preserved ancient villages in Spain. It is located in the Sierra de Francia. So it is the perfect destination to take advantage of the camper ride and enjoy hiking. This medieval village is characterized by its particular houses, many of them still retain medieval shields, which form narrow alleys. Again, it is best to leave the camper on the outskirts and get lost in the streets of this small village. La Alberca is one of the most visited villages in the Sierra de Francia, for some reason.

Definitely…

This is just a small sample of charming villages that you can enjoy traveling on rent camper. Depending on where you pick up your rental voucher and whatever your route, you can visit some villages or others. What is obligatory is that if you have opportunity to visit any of the locations we have mentioned. If the destination of your trip is France, it is very easy to make a stop to know Hondarribia or Covarrubias if you deviate a little. If on the other hand, your intention is to travel to the south, Arcos de la Frontera can be a good starting point to start the trip in rent van.
