It is only 65 kilometers that separate this town from Cadiz. In the blink of an eye you’ll be ready to start! 1. Arcos de la Frontera

Here begins the Route of the White Villages. Perhaps the town is familiar to you, did you know that it is one of the most photographed villages in Andalusia? This beautiful town is located on a hill, so its streets are quite steep as well as narrow. It is best that you leave the rental camper parked in the parking lot on the outskirts of the village and walk through its streets full of history. You will quickly realize that Muslim influence is everywhere: houses, courtyards, streets, buildings …

Its old town is declared Historic Complex and houses architectural jewels like the Castle of the Duches, the Door of Matrera and rest of the wall among others. 5. Zahara de la Sierra

This village owes its name to the Arab family and the Al Hakim, is known for its stories about Andalusian banditry and Muslim rule. It still conserves remains of the wall that formed part of the medieval fortress that surrounded the center of the town. Its streets are a labyrinth for which it is worth taking a short walk before visiting the last town within our particular People’s Route. If you fancy you can make a route around it before returning to take the camper, visiting its rivers and farmhouses but, beware! Jose Maria Tempranillo was born here so you run the risk of being kidnapped by bandits.

8. Setenil de las Bodegas

For many it is the most charming town of the route but its streets are narrow, so again, it is best to leave the van on the outskirts and walk its streets on foot. The finishing touch for the Route of the White Villages puts a place that is full of corners and architectural elements that overflow history. This will be the last stop after this rental camper trip. Setenil de las Bodegas is dominated by a castle that is situated in a fortress of medieval origin that to this day still retains Torre del Homenaje and a cistern. This beautiful Andalusian town is one of the main destinations of the mountains and is that the network of its streets next to the houses that merge into the mountain does not go unnoticed by anyone.
